VLOG #1 – How To Record ROCK Drums – with Henrik Fossum

Today is finally time for the first VLOG episode of Record Drums Online

I am super excited about this project! I was really fortunate to speak with some really talented sound engineers, producers and session drummers that have worked with great artists and that today are willing to share their knowledge on what it means to record drums as a profession. As I mentioned in previous posts, I am really looking forward to learn as much as possible about this topic and I think asking the best people in the industry will help me learn better and faster. I hope you will enjoy this first Vlog episode and learn as much as I did from it.

VLOG#1 – HOW TO RECORD ROCK DRUMS

In today’s episode I had the great pleasure of spending an afternoon with the super talented Henrik Fossum.  Henrik is a Norwegian sound engineer, currently working at PBUG Studio in West London. He was very kind to show me how he records drums for his rock band Steinroys. He explained what microphones he likes to use and how to place them on the kit. He also showed me some techniques on how to mix drums for rock songs, how to use EQs and Compressors.

If you want to work with Henrik, get in touch with him via Facebook or Instagram and make sure to follow his band Steinroys on Bandcamp

I hope you enjoyed this episode. I have never done a Vlog in my life before, so this world is completely new to me. In fact, I’d love to hear from you. Please let me know if you found this video interesting and also if you have any topics in particular that you’d want me to go over (for example, mic placement, drum mixing etc.) or any guests you’d like me to interview.

’till next time!
